2/28/2024 2 Comments Week 2: First Time for EverythingThis week was my first time taking pictures of people. I took pictures of my brother and his girlfriend in downtown Mocksville. The pictures turned out great for it being my first time taking pictures of people, but I did run across some issues.
Taking pictures of people is a difficult process when it comes to getting different angles and editing. If you take a picture from a bad angle, the picture doesn't turn out to be too great. Editing pictures was also difficult for me this week because it was hard to get all of the colors to work together without them clashing in a visually unpleasant way. Editing was definitely a very time consuming process to go through this week. Another thing that was giving me issues was my camera battery. I thought I had put the battery on the charger prior to the session, but it turns out that I didn't, so my camera kept cutting off in the middle of taking pictures. On the other side of things, I found taking pictures of people to be very fun. It was hard coming up with poses to do, but the pictures did not turn out bad at all. We spent over an hour taking pictures at different spots in downtown Mocksville, so it was a very time consuming process. It was exciting to see the ending results of each picture. Some of the pictures ended up turning out way better than expected. Overall, I think that I made pretty great progress this week. The people who I took pictures of ended up liking the ending results of the pictures. Taking pictures of people was a great experience and I am very happy with the outcome of the pictures! A Reflection Of This Week: Good Things: -I did my first photography session with people. -The pictures turned out great for a first experience. -It was a fun and enjoyable experience. -The outcome was motivating for the project. Things To Work On: -Becoming more familiar with taking pictures of people -Becoming more familiar with coming up with poses -Becoming more familiar with taking pictures of people and what all you can do with it Go to the picture portion of this website to see more pictures from this week!

2/24/2024 0 Comments Week 1: IntroductionFor my Genius Hour project, I am going to be trying to improve my knowledge and skills in photography. My reasoning behind this project is that I have always loved taking pictures. I appreciate the value and memories that are behind pictures. Taking pictures is the best way of capturing memories that last forever!
I plan on succeeding in this project by looking for ways to better my photography skills each week. Improvement on this skill is the main thing that I am looking for in this project. In each weekly update, I will be posting at least one picture that I took from that week. I will also be adding some pictures into the picture gallery to show some of my progress! I did not have a camera prior to doing this project. When it was mentioned that you could do anything you wanted for this project, my mind went straight to photography; so I got a camera week one of the project. My camera is a Canon brand camera. This week, I have learned more about the different parts of the camera. I have also learned a little more about editing. The photo below was the end result after the editing process!
