5/12/2024 0 Comments Week 12: Back To The RootsThis week, I decided to go back to my first project, taking pictures of flowers.
Flowers were the first thing that I took pictures of for this project. The first week of this project taught me a lot about editing and angles of pictures. This week, I decided to take pictures of different flowers to see how the editing could impact the way that the pictures makes someone feel. Editing of photos has a lot to do with feeling and emotion. If you edit a photo with bright and vibrant color, it could fill the viewer with emotions of happiness. If you edit a picture with dark colors, it could fill the viewer with feelings of sadness. Editing impacts photography in a strong way. The first week of this project, I was playing around with the editing process to see what would look good. Throughout the project, I learned the impact of angles and editing powers. Flowers is something I wanted to use for the last week, not only because it was the first thing I took pictures of, but because flowers can bring any emotion along with them. People receive flowers for weddings, birthdays, just because, for funerals, and for making tough days a little better. Flowers are a gift that further express emotions. Flowers are given in times of sadness, excitement, happiness, and depression. Flowers compare to editing when it comes to the different emotions that it could express. This week was a very successful week. This week tied in all of my knowledge into a final wrap. I am happy with how the pictures turned out. I will most likely continue my journey with photography. A Reflection Of This Week: Good Things: -I further understood editing -I further understood emotion that comes with photography -The editing process went good with all pictures Things To Work On: -Making angles of pictures more effective -Though editing was successful, I could work to make it more effective This week was also the last week of the project. Throughout the project, I have learned more and more about photography. Photography bring different emotion to different people based on angles and editing. Photography can be understood by everyone, even if everyone understands the photo in different ways. Photography is a unique creation that helps to withhold memories and fulfill emotions. I think that this entire project overall was successful. This project helped me to better appreciate the art within photography. I think I will continue on with taking pictures in the future. This week, I decided to continue my journey from last week with taking pictures of animals. After I finished my picture taking from last week, it left me wondering how my experience would be with taking pictures of an animal other than a dog. I decided to take pictures of a duck this week, which was a completely different experience.
Personalities of animals really tie in with how they cooperate. When taking pictures of animals, you don't expect them to it still and smile, but you also don't want them running around to the point of it being impossible to snap a picture of them. Personalities change when it is a different type of animal. Taking pictures of the duck was way easier than taking pictures of the dog. The duck was a lot less hyper. The dog was running all over the place, and made the process difficult. This week was very successful. I liked how I got to continue work from last week as a way of comparison. This week was definitely more enjoyable and successful than last week. Maybe it is just easier working with smaller animals. Personality has a lot to do with things. A Reflection Of This Week: Good Things: -I continued with my experience from last week by approaching it in a different way. -I learned more about the process of taking pictures of animals. -I got to work more witht he editing process of photography Things To Work On: -Learning how to gain focus of different types of animals -Working more with things that are less enjoyable so that I have an opportunity to get better at those things. To see more pictures from this week, and previous weeks, go to the picture portion of this website. Also would like to point out that this duck is not neglected. His water is not dirty, it is just electrolytes. 4/28/2024 0 Comments Week 10: Moving TargetThis week, I took pictures of my grandmothers dog to see what I could do when it comes to taking pictures of animals. Animals are really difficult to take pictures of because they are continuously moving. My grandma's dog is very hyper. It was almost like working with a moving target.
Taking pictures of a dog was difficult, but I would not say the pictures turned out terrible. In the picture below this post, my grandma was holding the dog to get her to stay still. (You can see her in the background of the picture, which was not really the plan) I only took two pictures of the dog because I figured that if I kept on trying, she would just think it was a game and get even more hyper, and she would move around a lot more. I would not say that this week was unsuccessful. Pictures got taken, and I tried something new. Working with animals is not as enjoyable as taking pictures of people, but it is not something that I would never do again. Working this week, I wonder what it would be like taking pictures of different animals, seeing how their personalities effects the picture taking. This week was overall successful. A Reflection On This Week: Good Things: -Had a new experience -Took Pictures -Worked with the editing process Things To Work On: -Taking pictures of animals -Learning ways to get focus of animals easier if I were to take pictures of animals in the future -Angles of pictures To see pictures from this week, and previous weeks, go to the picture portion of this website! 4/21/2024 1 Comment Week 9: Sharpness and VibrancyThis week I took pictures of one of my grandpa's cars. I wanted to focus more on the editing aspect of photography. The editing of my photos turned out pretty well. The angles that I took the pictures at were okay.
I wanted to focus more on editing this week because it is something I have not been truly focused on for the past few weeks. I also wanted to be more creative with taking pictures, which I think I accomplished in some ways. To be more "creative," I wanted to capture the raindrop image on the side of the car with a close-up. To make the raindrops stand out, I made sure to make the sharpness of the photo higher. I also wanted the color of the car to stand out. I chose this car to take pictures of because I liked it, and because the color for the car is pretty vibrant. To make the color stand out more, I made sure to make the saturation of the photo higher. Making the sharpness of a photo higher makes the key points stand out, and making the saturation higher makes the photo more vibrant as a whole. The pictures that I took this week did not really have any memory behind them. I took photos of the car because I liked it, and because its characteristics were good for the editing process. I would say that this week was pretty successful. This week was definitely more successful than last week. A Reflection Of This Week: Good Things: -I got a little more creative with taking photos. -I took photos (last week I didn't) -I got to focus on editing Things To Work On: -Bettering my works on editing -Getting more creative with taking photos -Getting better at finding angles to take photos If you would like to see more pictures from this week, and previous weeks, go to the picture portion of this website! 4/14/2024 0 Comments Week 8: Another Busy WeekThis week I did not get around to taking pictures. I have been prepping for tryouts all of this week, going into next week. I did not get any progress done on this project due to having my mind focused on something else for the majority of the time. One thing I would like to work on dealing with this project is gaining the motivation to make time to take pictures. I find myself getting home and being "too tired" to work on the project. I need to work on making the project a priority.
Going into the project, I knew that I would not meet my goal every week. I did not expect to have two weeks of this project with no pictures. I am not mad that I have missed two weeks of the project because I feel as if I have made amazing progress in the weeks I have participated in. I feel as if each week of this project I have either learned something new or progressed in some type of way. Still, I feel as if this project was a great one to choose to blog about. It has been enjoyable so far. I do not dread doing the project when I have time to take pictures. It seems less like a chore than most other projects do. Going into the future, I want to try to take more creative pictures. I feel as if the pictures I have taken in the past weeks are good, but kind of basic. I want to research more creative ways of taking pictures that give a good outcome. A Reflection Of This Week: Good Things: -I noticed my progress -I noticed my flaws from this week Things To Work On: -Making picture taking more of a priority -Researching taking pictures in more creative ways Even though there are no pictures from this week...you can still go to the picture portion of this website to see pictures from previous weeks! 4/7/2024 0 Comments Week 7: Spring Break :)This week was spring break. I went to Salvo, North Carolina and Wilmington, North Carolina. I got to take some pictures, but did not take as many as planned. These places were very beautiful and they weren't too packed. The pictures I took weren't meant towards any specific topic, I took pictures of things I thought were either neat or pretty.
I got to take pictures of lighthouses, paintings, and sunsets. I think I captured some pretty great pictures. I did not have any problems with the pictures I took this week as far as taking them or editing them. One thing that I would do if I went back to this week is I would take more pictures of the times spent with family and friends. The time we spent together was not documented, but it was a time that no one there will be able to forget. Spring break was an amazing week full of lots of activities. It was very fun to take pictures while travelling. I think this week was a very successful week. I would enjoy taking pictures during adventures in the future. Next time, I plan on taking more pictures! A Reflection Of This Week: Good Things: -I got to travel and take pictures. -The pictures I took were not terrible. -The editing process was easier this week. Things To Work On: -Being more creative with how I take pictures. -Being more creative with what I take pictures of. To see pictures from this week, and previous weeks, go to the picture portion of this website! 3/28/2024 0 Comments Week 6: The End Of An EraThis week, I spent some time taking senior photos. The pictures turned out very well. We took the pictures at different locations in downtown Mocksville, some of which I have taken pictures for previous weeks at. I did not edit the pictures this week because I thought they looked good without editing.
As we were taking pictures, I realized that pictures looked better when they were taken in the shade. It was also much easier to take pictures in the shade. Taking pictures in the sunlight, you have to worry about glares and unwanted shadows. When attempting to take pictures in direct sunlight, there was a lot of brightness in the background that would be difficult to edit out of the picture. Although I think that pictures in the shade look better, I still am going to make it a point to get better at taking pictures in direct sunlight. This week was one of the easier weeks. Like I said before, I think I am better when it comes to taking pictures of people. We got all of our ideas for poses from Pinterest and Lemon8, as I did before. Taking pictures of people is always a fun experience. These pictures were bitter sweet since they were senior pictures. I am so glad I had a part in taking them. The memories behind these pictures will be something held onto forever. A Reflection Of This Week: Good Things: -I got to take pictures that will forever hold memories. -I have gotten better at coming up with and looking for poses. -I have gotten better at angles of taking pictures. Things To Work On: -Taking pictures in sunlight. -Editing pictures of people. My idea started off as showing the beauty of the murals being painted, but it ended up turning into pictures about much more than that!
The person painting this mural is named Spencer. Spencer has been a friend of my moms for a long time, and she allowed me to take pictures of the murals in progress. When I got there to take the pictures, her kids were helping her paint. These pictures ended up being so special because this was the first time her kids helped her with the mural. The pictures showed so much more than a mural in progress; the pictures showed a passion of a mother being shared with her children. I am so happy with the outcome because it goes to show how special a single photograph can be. One picture can go a long way with how many memories it can hold. All of the pictures taken were candid photos, meaning that I did not have anyone pose in a specific way. I feel as if the photos being candid makes the pictures that much more special. One thing I will say that I would like to work on more is the editing of pictures. I feel as if some pictures could be edited better with the right tools or apps. This was definitely one of the better weeks of this project in my opinion, and I am so glad I got to experience this moment. A Reflection On This Week: Good Things: -The pictures I took hold memories with them. -I finally got to take pictures of a mural. -The pictures were fun to take. Things To Work On: -The angles of taking pictures. -Being more successful with editing. This mural is located in downtown Mocksville. I decided to bring my camera to take some pictures. It was a very fun thing to do, and I got progress done while being active!
This step towards progression made me realize that I need to work more on taking pictures against sunlight. In most of the pictures taken, you can see that there is a bit of a glare somewhere in the picture. I would like to work more towards figuring out how to make that glare disappear. There were many good things that happened this week on my walk. It was beautiful weather outside, and I captured some good pictures. I would like to take pictures like this again to see if I can improve on them in any way. So far in this project, I think that I have been best at taking pictures of people. I have actually found that taking pictures of people is easier than most other things I have taken pictures of. I find it hard to take pictures of nature that everyone finds interesting by just looking at the picture and not really thinking about the picture. One good thing about taking pictures of nature is that anyone can find emotion in the picture whether it be emotion through the weather, or emotions through the placement of nature. While taking pictures of people is easier, pictures of nature is more relatable in the sense that relatable emotions can be found within the picture. I have some things that I need to work on, but it all comes with progress! A Reflection Of This Week: Good Things: -I got around to taking pictures. -I found the good things behind the struggles of taking pictures of nature. -I had a good experience with taking pictures of nature. -I did better this week than I did week 3. Things To Work On: -Taking pictures against sunlight. -Finding more creative ways to take pictures of nature. Take a look into the picture section of this website to see pictures from this week and previous weeks! 3/10/2024 0 Comments Week 3...Minus the PicturesUnfortunately, this week I did not get around to taking pictures. I was very busy with work and life. When I did have plans to take pictures, the weather decided to take over. Though I did not get around to taking pictures, I would not say that I made zero progress.
This week I spent time looking at different places that I could possibly take pictures at in the future. I found some pretty places that are local, and some places that are in Winston Salem. At some point, I plan on taking pictures of the murals in downtown Winston Salem. I like the looks and meaning behind murals, and I think they go well with the meaning behind photography. Since I did not get around to taking pictures this week, next week I plan on taking more pictures than I typically would. I plan on taking more pictures next week so I can catch up on updating the photo portion of the website. I think that the next week of this project will go by a little bit easier because I do not think I have a ton planned for that week. Life was busy this week, but it did not fully get in the way of my progress! A Reflection Of This Week: Good Things: -I found some ideas of where I can take pictures in the future. Things To Work On: -Making the project more of a priority -Creating time to take pictures -Becoming more creative of picture spots incase weather were to get in the way again in the future |
